Elafonisi is a small island with white sand, separated from the shore by a lagoon with a depth of 1 meter at most. Elafonisi is a “heaven on Earth”, an exotic landscape with small shells scattered everywhere, with crystal, turquoise, shallow waters and an endless white sandy beach.
Elafonisi is 18 km from Elos and it will take about half an hour to get there.
Southern of Elafonisi is the beach of Kedrodasos. Kedrodasos is one of the most beautiful beaches of Crete which combines white sand with turquoise waters. Along the beach there are dunes, a few rocks and a large forest of cedar (juniper), hence its name.
Kedrodasos is a virgin place and this is proved by the fact that there are no facilities nearby for food and water. If you decide to visit Kedrodasos be sure to get your supplies.
Southern of Elos and western of Palaiochora lies the Grammeno’s peninsula. It is special because the cape divides the beach into two others, one with pebbles and one with golden sand. Both beaches are organized with sun beds and umbrellas. On the cape there is a forest of cedars.
After Chrissoskalitisa Monastery, a small road leads to a small clean, sandy beach with clear crystal water, but access is quite difficult. Be careful because the shores are steep. Above the beach, on a 35m. cliff , Stands the famous monastery of Chrisoskalitissa with marvelous view to the Libyan Sea. According to legend took its name from the 90 steps leading to the monastery, of which one is gold, but sinners cannot see it.
Krios beach is a very quiet beach with pebbles and crystal waters. The lack of organization makes it the best getaway for relax.
